QPR FC Stadium (London)

Project: QPR Stadium, Lighting Mast Repair
Client: QPR Holdings Limited

The project:
Queens Park Rangers Football Club Stadium, located in Shepherds Bush, London, identified an issue with one of their lighting masts in the summer of 2015, where urgent repairs where necessary, with the bases of this mast beginning to corrode and crack. APA Concrete Repairs Ltd were therefore appointed to undertake the repair and reinstatement of this lighting mast within the stadium.

The solution:
The concrete surrounding the defective fixing of the mast was first broken out, in order to facilitate the Ancon coupler and new bolt, which were installed and tightened to the required tension. Existing concrete surfaces were primed, and new concrete was instated to form the original concrete profile, before a new stiffener plate was welded to the existing corroded stiffener. Upon completion, the exposed steel was coated to provide additional weather protection.

The outcome:
The repairs were completed in July 2015, with the outcome resulting in the mast being promptly put back into service, just in time for the commencement of the new football season in August.

Materials Utilised:
